| Image T-080 | Classic Pillow Prints /Clasico grabado de Almohada Artist - Kunimasa (1773 - 1810) Image Size - 10 1/2" x 9" (not measured individually) Classic Pillow Prints - One of the popular and favorite print styles from the late 18th and early 19th century was the pillow print. Set against lovely, traditional background settings, these finely designed old images usually depict a young couple in a private setting, playfully cuddling or resting before or after lovemaking. These prints were normally variations on that theme and reflect on the sometimes slightly erotic nature of Japanese woodblock prints. image 1 image 2 image 3 | Image T-079 This item was purchased RARO DE ENCONTRAR RARE FIND This item was purchased | Autumn Moon at Seba, Sation No.32, Kisokaido Road/ Luna de Otoño en Seba, Estación No.32, carreteraKisokaido Series; Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido / Series; Sesenta y nueve estaciones de la Kisokaido Kiso Kaido Rokujuku Tsugi Kiso Kaido Rokujuku Tsugi Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Image Size - 8 5/8" x 13 3/4" + margins as shown The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido - Hiroshige’s fantastic Kisokaido series was designed in collaboration with Keisei Eisen in the mid-1830s. Comprised of seventy prints, Eisen contributed twenty-three images to the series, with Hiroshige providing the rest. This masterpiece series chronicled life along the Kiso Highway, the upper road along the mountains from Edo to Kyoto, mirroring the lower Tokaido. Including scenes from all seasons, day and night, snow and rain, Hiroshige captured the essence of travel along the Kiso Road during the Edo era. His captivating and atmospheric views offer a poetic vision of the beautiful and often dramatic countryside of Japan. The Kisokaido series was printed in a very small quantity. So, original Kisokaido prints are among the most rare prints in the Japanese print market. They are almost impossible to find today. As the masterwork subject of the series, this print specifically is an incredibly rare find. Autumn Moon at Seba, Sation No.32, Kisokaido Road - A terrific Hiroshige print depicting the autumn moon at Tama river, two boatmen pole their crafts down the river. A huge autumn moon hangs in the sky illuminating the scene at twilight and coloring the landscape in rich tones. Many consider this one of Hiroshige’s great masterwork prints. A wonderful Hiroshige design, a tranquil image that draws the viewer into this peaceful scene in Hiroshige’s Japan.
